First Time Collecting Eggs & Beekeeping! 🍯🐓🌿

Some moments in life are so simple yet so powerful—and this was one of them.

This video is a montage of me stepping WAY outside my comfort zone to collect farm-fresh eggs (spoiler: I dropped one & learned that chickens will eat their own eggs! 😳😂) and experience beekeeping for the first time! 🐝🔥

I learned how to use smoke to safely handle the bees—something I never knew before! Here’s how smoke helps beekeepers:
🔥 Masks alarm pheromones – Smoke hides the chemicals that bees release when they sense danger.
🔥 Disrupts communication – It interferes with their sense of smell, which is their primary way of communicating.
🔥 Preoccupies bees – Smoke makes bees gorge on honey, which makes them full and way less likely to sting! 🐝💛

At the end, I couldn’t help but yell out, “I did it!”—because it truly felt like a huge accomplishment! 🙌

I’ll be honest—some days, I struggle. Some days, this journey feels heavy. But today, watching this video, I cried. It was healing. The simple tasks of farm life, the feeling of accomplishing something new, and the power of friendship reminded me to keep going.

This moment wouldn’t have been possible without our dear friend Ben Coffin, a Cordon Bleu Chef & owner of Granny Had One Catering, who guided me through the process.
